Current Openings
The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for all Information Technology support services, including: planning and implementing systems, policies and procedures; help desk and desktop support; server, network and voice administration; software and hardware recommendations, installations and maintenance; security; vendor support interaction; and disaster recovery capability and planning. In managing and executing all IT functions for the company, this position must mitigate risk while ensuring enhanced capacity and productivity. At minimum this position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or similar discipline and four+ years of experience within a small company, including at least one year as the company’s sole IT specialist — or equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional requirements include one to two years of hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies and three to five years experience in Microsoft server environments. Strong interpersonal and communications skills necessary, as well as the ability to work under deadline pressure and respond to IT emergencies during off hours. Position is based in Rome, NY, with frequent travel to Albany and New York City.
Information Security Analyst (Analyst 1)The Information Security Analyst assists the security team in providing a wide array of security services to NYSTEC clients, including disaster recovery planning and assessments, identity and access management, penetration testing and data classification. This position requires a bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field (computer science, information security). One to three years of related work experience (internships or coursework) and knowledge and/or management of intrusion prevention systems (IPSs), firewalls, VPN, intrusion detection software, data recovery and network authentication. Security certifications such as CISSP, SANS Certification, Security +, operating systems certification are a plus.
Network Infrastructure Engineer (Engineer 1)The Network Infrastructure Engineer assists in the planning and deployment of core network infrastructure for NYSTEC clients. This position works with the NYSTEC network team to ensure that planning and deployment are performed in a manner that is standards-based, high quality, and on schedule. This position assists the team with the planning and installation-oversight of hardware and associated infrastructure (floor plans, equipment racks, cable racks, HVAC systems, cabling systems, etc.). This position requires familiarity with a broad range of network technologies, strong team-building skills and good documentation and organizational abilities. A bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field (computer science, telecommunications) required. One to three years related work experience (internships or coursework). Knowledge and/or management of: LAN/WANs (Local/Wide Area Networks); LAN/WAN protocols; optical network equipment; data center physical infrastructure, electrical, HVAC, cabling.

Vacation
Employees may earn between 15 days and 25 days of vacation per year depending on length of service. Employees may carry over up to 15 days of vacation to the next calendar year.
Medical Benefits
Our medical plan is a pre-tax plan, and the corporation contributes 80 percent of the cost. The plan includes coverage for vision care.
Dental Benefits
We offer a comprehensive pre-tax dental plan, which is available at either a high or low level. The high plan includes an orthodontia benefit.
Flexible Spending Accounts
Health Care and Dependent Care Reimbursement Accounts allow employees to reduce taxable income by directing pre-tax funds to pay for out-of-pocket medical and day-care expenses. We also have a Commuter Benefits Reimbursement Account which directs pre-tax funds for transit and parking expenses. Our plans include an optional debit card benefit.
Employee Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance
NYSTEC provides an insurance benefit equivalent to two times salary and employees can elect one, two, three, or four times their annual salary. There is a combined maximum of $300,000.
Spouse & Dependent Life Insurance
Elect to cover spouse and dependents, using after-tax dollars from a variety of coverage levels.
Holidays
The company observes nine paid holidays per year.
Sick Leave
Employees are given time off for illness or injury, doctors’ appointments, and care of an immediate family member who is ill.
Short Term Disability
This plan provides from 60 percent to 100 percent (depending on years of service) of an employee’s monthly salary in the event of an illness or disability lasting less than six months.
Long Term Disability
This plan electively provides 60 percent of monthly salary in the event of an illness or disability lasting longer than six months.
Retirement Program
As a not-for-profit consulting company, we have the opportunity to participate in the largest retirement system in the world—the well-known TIAA-CREF. The company contributes 5 percent of an employee’s gross salary under a five-year delayed vesting schedule. Employees contribute 5 percent of their gross salaries and have the opportunity to invest additional funds on a pre-tax basis (within IRS limits). The employee chooses how contributions are directed to a number of different investment options.
Tuition Support
The company provides tuition support for either 12 or 18 credit hours in an academic year to eligible employees for accredited graduate and undergraduate courses. The number of credit hours depends upon the type of educational institution.
Health & Fitness Reimbursement
NYSTEC seeks to promote and encourage physical fitness for its employees and their families and will reimburse $200 per employee toward out-of-pocket costs for acceptable health-related activities on a fiscal-year basis.
