Another Walk Across the Hudson by NYSTEC to Help Defeat ALS

Back To Community Involvement

On a beautiful fall day in Hudson Valley, NYSTEC sponsored participation in the 11th Annual Walk to Defeat ALS® Fundraiser at the Walkway Over the Hudson event in Highland, NY. The charity walk attracted about 3,000 participants and started at 11 am following a brief family-oriented ceremony that included dedications from local civic leaders, a performance dance, face painting, music, mascots, refreshments, and other fun & games. ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. The Walk to Defeat ALS® is an outlet for communities across the nation to demonstrate their concern for and the urgent need to find the cure for ALS while providing the best care for those who are currently battling the disease. All contributions from this year’s event help support all three pillars of ALS — care services, research and advocacy in the greater Hudson Valley Community.
